I go to the bar once every 1-3 months. I’m a friendly guy and can laugh at myself. Last time I was there someone was curious and asked if I’d take out my prosthetic eye so she could see what it looked like. I did, cause I don’t give a fuck lol. Then I put it back in.
Last night one of the staff said “you can’t take it out, we got complaints from customers saying it disturbed them.” All I said was “ok I won’t do it again.”
What I really wanted to say is “I’m sorry my disability disgusts people and I’ll try not to have a disability so people are more comfortable” but I held my tongue.
It brought up a memory from years ago when I lived in Vegas. Way before I had a prosthetic and wore an eye patch.
I was at a bar. Eye patches are very uncomfortable and that night it was rubbing the top of my ears raw so I took it off. The bartender said … and this is an exact quote…. “I’m not serving you until you put your patch back on, no one wants to see that ugly ass shit!”
He said more but I think you get the gist.
If you’re a Yelp person give Southern Roots in McDonough GA 1 star cause they don’t support disabled ppl if it makes them look ugly.
