I’m an alcoholic. Pretty much everyone in my life knows that. I own who/what I am.

I’ve been trying to get sober. I need a medical detox or I’m in danger of having seizures and/or hallucinations. I went to the hospital but they turned me because I wasn’t showing symptoms yet.

I went home and tried to self detox but I woke up early with the sweats and the shakes. I had to drink a few just to make that stop.

So I kept drinking. My next Dr appointment was just a few weeks away. I told her I was finally wanting to stop. Her face lit up. She did a bunch of research and have me 3 places.

None of them would take me because my insurance is through Medicare. So it’d cost me 1k-2k per day for a 30 day program. I don’t make that kind of money.

The last one I talked to gave me the number to an assistant line. Basically the same as calling 988. We spend about an hour researching and she gave me around 10 more places to call. EVERY SINGLE FUCKING ONE told me the same thing.

The hospital doesn’t want to help me, or any of those facilities unless I have 60k in free cash… even though I have insurance. But because it’s through Medicare they’re telling me to fuck off.
