Once when I was homeless I had a sign that said “free complements”. A lady drove up and stopped. I’m pretty sure she was expecting something superficial like “you’re pretty” or some crap like that. But that ain’t my style. I only give sincere complements.
I looked at her for a minute or so, and I said “you have kind eyes, and ypu seem like a trustworthy person, the kind I could trust my life with.” I meant every word. Her eyes lit up and she smiled, then she gave me $10. Doubt she knows she bought me lunch, dinner, and breakfast.
wish I could tell her thank you a second time.
